Default Thrifty mini-van rental

I was going to rent a van from Thrifty, for an upcoming trip to SC. Only problem is they don't offer unlimited kms out side of the province.

So i was wondering how would they know if i crossed the boarder?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

There are many companies out there that utilize asset tracking devices.

For companies with large fleets such as rental cars, hauling comapnies, cross country movers, there are GPS trackers that are installed in the cars with minimal effort.

I'm not saying that this may be the case with Thrifty, but if it is, the GPS will automatically send a signal to Thifty notifying them that you took the van out of the state.

I'm not sure what kind of van you are looking to rent (minivan or cargo van?). If it's a cargo van, then you may want to look into UHaul.

Also, if you take the van out of the country without notifying the rental company, you would be in violation of your rental contract which would void any insurance you have. If you should happen to get in an accident or have something happen to the van, it would be very expensive.
