Thumbs up TELUS Mobility extends $15 unlimited data plan to all data devices

According to this thread here, the $15 unlimited data plan that was once restricted to the HTC Touch, Blackberry Pearl, and HTC S720 has apparently been extended to all data devices in TELUS Mobility's lineup. I assume that the previous restrictions continue to apply, such as only for consumer accounts, BIS access only, and $30 minimum voice plan requirement. Offer valid until February 3rd.

It's not unlimited data plan.
It's $15 unlimited email/IM/web browsing.

I think the only difference is tethering (using the mobile phone as a modem for your laptop)

I'm pretty sure if you call Telus and ask for the $15 unlimited data plan, they will say there is no such thing.
But if you call and ask for the $15 unlimited email/IM AND web browsing, they will sure we have that.

I have the $15unlimited email/IM/browsing with my Touch and in 3 weeks have used 50MB of data of very light web browsing.
twice, I downloaded some files (google maps and opera mobile).
No charges.

I don't want to move, but it appears Rogers really doesn't want to keep my business

okay. i just found out from a friend at telus...

the web browsing they can't actually remove it or telus doesn't know how to.

So at the end of the day, web browsing is tempoary and could go anytime.

If you look at the telus site, its actually web and IM only.

contract says email and IM, no mention of internet. So for all you guys who locked into 3 year terms thinking you got internet as well... i'd be a little conerned.

just my two cents.

That was before Bell Mobility had their $7 Unlimited Data option with the HTC Touch. Thanks to Bell, web browsing is indeed part of the package and now it's available to all devices, not just the 3 consumer-oriented ones. Your friend from TELUS needs to read their emails more carefully because this was communicated down way back in November. If they're still under the impression that TELUS is going to reverse the web browsing, then they are sadly out-of-date.

hmmm... i was about to jump in on the Touch, but given this new twist, i wonder if i should get an 8830 instead!

Opinions? My gut is telling me both ups and downs on either one... touch will be better for browsing, 8830 for email/messaging. I'm worried about the touch's sensitive screen.. 8830 is more rugged for everyday use? Any opinions out there?
