Default Tax on used car

Is it true that you still have to pay both taxes on a used car if bought from a dealership and only one tax if private? I thought it was one tax for both?

Yes, you have to pay GST + PST (at the time of purchase) when purchasing from a dealership. If buying privately, you pay PST only (at the time of registration).
