My first question is what is "Box-Case 40" on my T4 slip? There doesn't seem to be a place to enter it on quicktax.
My second question is that... On quicktaxweb I'm getting "You should carry all or a portion of your charitable donations forward to next year." My donations are 40 dollars... I can carry forward 20, but the other 20 is from 1999. It said that after I discovered I had unused education amounts from the MyAccount on CRA website. "The federal and provincial/territorial amounts that are available to carry forward to subsequent years are $2,702 and $2,102, respectively. " My Non refundable tax credits is 2,838.46 and taxable income is 17,720.38. I'm a little confused on if I should just carry forward the 20 and leave the other 20.....or is there something else that I can do? Can I use part of the education amounts and carry forward the rest? I'm not clear on what non-refundable is since Education/Tuition is listed under non-refundable but it impacts my refund amount? Thanks, don't flame me too much.

Box 40 in non-taxed income already included in your gross earnings.
QTax most likely says to carry forward the donations because using it won't increase your refund. This generally happens when you have a large amount of deductions that reduces your taxes owing to nil, especially with education credits. |
