Default Suspected Bad Seller: NODES

So Nodes and I agreed that I would buy a PS3 from him. Originally it took a couple PMs to get him to respond to my offer. Anyways, when I got of hold of him here how the deal went down.

Me:
It seems like you aren't getting my PMs. Anyways, I would like to buy your ps3. What is you email address? It would probably work better if we communicated through that medium. Thanks.
**my email address here**

Nodes:
my inbox was full....yet it did not tell me that.

i still have it, but wont be shipping it out until, i come back from the trip.

Me:
Sure I can wait. Where are you getting back? I might as well ask my two questions now then.
1) Do you have the receipt for warranty purposes?
2) Would you ship it to Quebec City for $25. Ontario and Quebec are in the same Canadapost "shipping region" and therefore it should cost the between Ontario and Quebec.

Thanks.

Nodes:
YES and YES

Me:
Cool. Consider your ps3 sold. Where are you getting back from your trip? How would you like your payment? Through paypal? I will transfer you the funds

Nodes:
i will be back 3 weeks from this friday

Me:
Wow 3 weeks? You can't ship it before you leave? I can EMT you right away if you could. The extra money might be good for your trip.

Nodes:
UNFORTUNETLY i cant, i can get my sister to ship it out, but i dont want to be responsible for any losses or damage done to the item. Hence why im willing to ship it when i get back

Me:
I'd rather take the risk and have it shipped out immediately than wait 3 weeks. I'm sure as long as it is boxed it should be ok. Xpresspost between hamilton and here only takes 2 days or so, so I don't expect damage. As well, if it is insured like you indicated we are both covered. I can EMT you right now if you can have it sent tomorrow.

Nodes:
it will be shipped out thursday/fri at the earliest. Thats the best i can do, lmk...

Me:
K. I can live with that. So much for me gaming myself out this weekend. Here is my address:
**My Addess**

When it is shipped (what I mean to say is when you give me the tracking number) I'll EMT you the money. I'll need your email address for that.

Nodes:
nodes2000@hotmail.com

All that was on the 30 Jan 07.

I EMTed him the same day and in the EMT I stated I wouldn't give him the EMT password until I confirmed confirmation that the PS3 was shipped. That is when the correspondence from him stopped. The EMT is still in limbo. I've emailed and PMed him asking for the status of the PS3 with no response. He's been posting and using Redflagdeals everyday since then so I know he's around but he won't respond to me whatsoever.

Sure he might be on a trip as he stated but I just saw this today.

http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...d.php?t=398740
It's for a 32" Polaroid LCD TV.

He says this in his post:
31 Jan 07
anyone? its available TILL this friday ONLY, after that its coming with me to B.C next mth.
warrenty and reciept is included....paid 825 a mth ago. Item is NEW in box

Ummmm.... So he can't ship my PS3 but he can still sell TVs??? Just in that one thread alone he is posting everyday (as well as many others) but still not responding to my emails or PMs or the msg in the EMT. WTF?

Today is the 5th of Feb. Still no response from him. The guy has a 165-1-1 Heatware record. How can this be? This guy is really messing around with me and I have $675 in limbo.

I want to stress I really want to make this deal work but I'm scared I'm going to/getting scammed. Maybe this thread will bring the guy out of hiding.

Well, on NODES defence, usually experienced sellers require payment in full before shipping. If you don't provide the EMT password, that's the same as not sending payment as the EMT payment can be cancelled from buyer's side until deposited. I see you're relatively new here and probably not much heatware feedback.

Secondly, just because the guy is online it doesn't meet he can ship/deliver/have access to the postal office easily. He may be waiting for ebay auctions or payment from others and ship all at once (rather than having to go out daily).

Anyway, i don't think he's out to scam you for a measly ~$600 item (or however much the PS3 is worth nowadays). He should respond though, especially knowing he has people's money tied up. And you shouldn't have sent payment knowing he wouldn't be able to ship right away (people are usually quite busy the few days before going on vacations, moving, etc).

You really are over reacting. Technically, if anyone here is in the wrong it's you. He has not received your payment at all like you first stated that you would. Than you turn around and say you will give him the EMT once you have confirmation. You're new to these boards, it could be possible that once you have confirmation you won't send him the password.

I don't think I'm over-reacting at all. I said I'd EMT him right away if he could ship it out "tomorrow (wed)" he said he couldn't (earliest thurs or fri) so I EMTed him anyway (showing good intentions) with the message I would give him the password on tracking information. I was fully prepared to give him full the password right away if be wanted it but he never responded to further PMs, emails or messages through heatware. I think I've been pretty reasonable. I can understand if he could at least contact me and let me know if we was being delayed but I haven't gotten anything from him. How do you think I feel when I see him everyday, wheeling and dealing with pretty much anyone else but he won't give me a simple heads up? Don't forgot my money is still out there, and I can't use it. What happened courtesy?

And yes I know I haven't been on these boards for a long time like some other people but I do believe in good communication and honesty. Something I think is lacking in this case.

Cero,

You don't have enough clout here to withhold passwords for payment. I have done it, but I have 5 years of trading behind me.

Whenever someone says they are going away and can't ship for 3 weeks -- either move on or offer to wait and complete the deal when they return.

You can cancel the EMT and you will have your money back within minutes.

Ok then. You you all want me to give him the password now??? Without him communicating with me first??? If he had a problem with it, he could have told me and I would have gladly given him the password. If his sister wasn't going to ship it he could of told me. If there was going to be any problems he could have told me. But instead he's been going around bumping his own threads, answering questions on the subject of his other things for sale and it seems selling what I already agreed to be buying. Again, I've asked him to get in touch with me but he ignores me. Is something not wrong with this?

Yes I'm fairly new here, yes I don't have a lot of posts but I do contribute when I can and I have a solid 43-0 ebay record, as a normal seller/buyer. I don't buy or sell that often but I always ensure my buyers are well informed and I respond/ship quickly.

No, don't give him the password.

Just cancel the EMT and look for a PS3 somewhere else. I have heard rumors that the price will be coming down soon anyway.

If it doesnt work out with NODES, then just find another seller. Though i'd personally trust a member with 6k+ posts and if i had less than 100. But this is me judging based on post counts .. hope everything works out though.

NODES, I can tell you this guy is hard to find even if you got his phone number. I will suggest you to buy the PS3 from other buyer or from Local store.

About this user NODES, I think he's an emotional person.
Well, I replied to 2 of his posts and he said to me that I spammed his Inbox.... Gosh, as a mature person, you can simply reply or get back to other person politely...

I don't see a problem here unless he's deposited the EMT. It looked like he made it pretty clear that shipping right away was going to be less than easy, and he hasn't taken any of your money.

If you are really stuck, cancel your EMT and find another PS3 for sale instead, but please don't go labeling people as scammers when you haven't actually given them any cash. Annoying, sure. worth avoiding if you're in a rush? Maybe... But the current trend on RFD of noobs calling anyone who inconveniences them in any way a scammer is not cool.

edit: Read the sticky posts at the top next time?

i agree that you dont have enough feedback to have the right to with hold payment with a long time trader.

Perhaps you should get more feedback to do that, or, just stick with local deals and meet up in person so that feedback is not as important sometimes (at least in my experience, face to face and checking everything proves to be more reliable compared to feedback, as i've seen someone with 300 positive feedbacks get banned from hofo for tricking others)

Thats y i never do shipping and only do deals locally.
