[Merged] STUDENTS: Windows 7 Pro $40

This is for Canadian Students and available for $39.99 after you log in with a valid email:

http://store.digitalriver.com/DRHM/serv ... A&Env=BASE

edit: If you see Office 2007 Ultimate, look for a link that says Additional Products, and Windows 7 Professional Upgrade will be an available option.

edit: Can you upgrade from 32bit Vista to 64bit Win7 Pro? http://forums.cnet.com/5208-19411_102-0 ... dID=348275 Thanks to Ravage for the link.

Is this a full version of the OS like the one you would buy at the store?

Ultimate Steal again, does that mean Microsoft is stealing from us considering Vista was a failure :cheesygri

I think $40 isn't reasonable considering it's $30 USD for americans and dollars are almost on par.

I think this is for office, not windows 7. If you scroll your mouse over the 'How do i Buy part' it says it's for Office?

Thanks!

I edited the original post with instructions to look for "Additional Products" link for those who think it is for Office.

Downloading at my maximum bandwidth... I'm hoping this ends up being a retail version despite on the wording of it being upgrade. The way its progressing, I'm not even sure it's going to give me the option to burn bootable media and rather you just have to run the installer over your current OS. Since I have a 32bit OS now, I could be messed choosing the 64bit option...

We'll see, too early to judge. I have 40min until download is complete.

Did anyone read the fine print? If you're not a student anymore you might want to read this part: "Microsoft or an appointed vendor may contact you to verify that you are a current student. If documentation is not provided indicating that you are a current student, you will be liable to reimburse Microsoft for the difference between what you paid and the estimated retail price of the software. Yeah I know. I bought a laptop from Dell today and paid $90 just to upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional.
