Default Stolen Cellphone, need advice.

Hey people,

My sisters cellphone was stolen on campus, after we cancelled the phone we started recieving calls at our homeline and the cellphone odd hours of the day. Also we found they called some long distance places when we recieved the bill. So i got all the numbers they called and did a 411 on it and got all the name and adresses. Along i called some numbers with skype and sure enough after i called a number and some1 picked up on the other end, they hung up. Then 10 seconds later we got the phone call from the person at our homeline and cellphone. What i am wondering is this cellphone number enough to get say a search on this person? Also we checked one of the numbers and found it corresponded to a student in my sisters class. We called MTS, and they said they cant tell us who the caller is because it is a violation of privacy, they dont seem to care about recieving these calls.

The person who stole the phone thinks it is fun to harrass everyone on the address book by calling them 4 times a day at different times of the day on a untrackable calling card. The phone SIM card was disabled first day though Rogers took 3 days to disable it. It is an unlocked phone though so they can still access the phone. We know the phone is gone forever, we just want the harrassing phone calls to stop, yet MTS won't block it.
Any suggestions on what to do next?

Thanks in advance.

File a police report, it won't go anywhere unfortuantely, they don't obtain warrants over stolen cellphones, they may follow up with the numbers that were called after the phone was stolen, but I would say it's un in the air over that aswell.

Would i be able to block this phone number from calling our house number and cellphone? It is ver harrassing to get a call at 4 am in the morning. I dont understand why there harrassing us if they already have our cellphone. The calls come from a number that cant be called back it is this number:

204-480-0223

When i do a reverse look up theres no information on it. The provider is GT Telecommunication which is Bell Canada. Also the line just rings like 30 times, noone picks up.

You can try, but I believe phone companies are rather hesitant about blocking numbers from calling you. But it never hurts to try.

If they call you from a number like that which you cannot call back it could be because of a few things;

Voice over IP:
Depending on the provider (free) that you are using to place the call and to which number is dialed, it usually calls a rerouted number from the provider and then it redirects the call. In other words, If your calling your your friend from VOip and the number you are calling is a 416 number, when dialing over voip it calls the provider from the number you dialed and it assigns a local 416 so that the company wont get charged long distance, therefore creating an invisible and untraceable number.

That or theyr using a calling card which also reroutes the number.

Your sister must have a grudge against someone for that to be happening, if it bothers you too much, just disconnect the phone line when you goto bed, no one is going to call you anyway in the middle of the night. You cant always win, but you can sure work around it and eventually theyll stop calling.

Last option is to change ur house number, or block the number thats calling you.

Actually this person also phones my sisters new cellphone (same number, different phone) also. He just phoned 5 minute ago. Well heres the @ssholes calling record:

353-2500
267-2811
269-3391
797-7209
239-7521 - possible person (i found it and right away they phoned my houseline cuze i phoned twice to c who it was)
801-7776 - Kevin Ramdon or something

I really dont understand why he is doing this. I think we are going to have to change number. The operator says she cant put a block or a trap on the line. Well from now on i am running a script to phone that 239-7521 number and see how much they appreciate it.

Called and asked for Rahul, female Caucasian sounding voice.

Well first thing you shoud have done is completely cancel the phone or place it on hold. Letting them use the phone was not a smart move.

File a police report. Since you did not cancel the phone, include phone records as evidence.

Get a new phone.

Well we called Rogers and told them to place a block on the phone the same day it was stolen. They said they did, but the phone wasnt cancelled until 3 days later.

what you need to do is call into your service provider and report it stolen. thats all you need to do.

I dont get what you mean by "The some one is calling you part"
