Default Staples Gold Dividend

I want to know for the people who own the Staples Gold Dividend card.

Does your gold dividend last for a lifetime, or it is only 1 year validity. Then it turns back into normal blue membership card.

Too lazy to look it up myself - so how does one get a Staples "Gold Dividend" card?

Spend $1000 in a year and you'll get it automatically.

Staples Dividends program is completely stupid, I spent over $2500 at Staples and I haven't received any membership upgrade.

no, it think you have to maintain a 1000/year average over the past 12 months or something. I'm not 100% sure but I believe thats what i read in another staples related thread.

I'm no help either; my annual spending is likely over $1000. It will be even more now that the 150% PM opportunity [and the 1 cent keyboard/mouse deals] are gone! I swear - I am going to frame that receipt!!

Edited to add: Hmmm, considering that they don't give out new cards to clients annually, I am assuming a gold is a gold for life! The key fob I used to have was destroyed beyond belief. I now resort to flashing the card.

The annual spending has to be on non notebook or desktop PC items, and you get your gold card after the year ends.

I earned Dividends Gold back in 2004, but I've spent very little at Staples since then...maybe around $200/year? And just last week, I placed a $15 order (including tax) that was delivered for free. So even if they've changed the rule, they're not enforcing it much and haven't yet notified the members that could be affected by it.
