How was the experience?
My friends and I camped out for the first time last year at Best Buy. We got there at 12AM and there were 3 people already. We only had 1 lawn chair, so we had to take turns sitting in it, or warming up a bit in the car. Luckily though it wasn't that cold. 1 hour before Best Buy opened, the employees gave us all free chocolate bars and gum. CityTV was also there and interviewed us. Overall fun experience, and worth it. Definitely doing it again this year. |

I personally won't, since I normally have to get up early on Christmas and too tired to get up on Boxing Day too, that and I normally don't care much for the "Door Crasher" deals

I camped out once a couple of years ago for some nice deals on some PC parts, and incidently, I also picked up the mp3 player I'd been looking at for a while that day for $150 off because it was their last one and I haggled it down(Best Buy, even).
The only other time I've camped out was for my 360 last year, but that wasn't Boxing Day. |

I don't get that whole camping out experience...camping in front of a shop in order to buy a gaming console or save 50-100 bucks.
I would really like to know what actually gets people to do that, so Rurouni, with no offense to this question, what goes through your head when you're sitting in front of best buy all night in a tent ? I really wonder. hehe |

Lets see... 2001 was probably the best year for boxing day. Free dishes, phones , mp3 players @ futureshop. Awesome deals @ walmart. For the past 5 years however, boxing day has been a big joke... esp with FS and Best Buy cause all they have is a shitload of MAIL IN REBATES.

I don't know if I will camp out or not, but I definately want to get a good deal on some computer parts:
-Lightscribe DVD reader/writer -Soundblaster x-fi xtreme audio soundcard -a good video card -wireless mouse and keyboard combo if i was going to opt for camping out, where should i go? bb and fs dont even carry the soundblaster which is mainly what i want

Exactly what I've done the last couple of years. BB/FS online sales always start at 9PM PST (12:00 EST) on December 25th, and I've gotten some good stuff through there (e.g. 200 bucks off a decent HK receiver, same price that was in the standard store flyer if I remember correctly). It does take some fast clicking to get what you want in your shopping cart, and a lot of patience to actually check out, however.
A few years ago I did go at about 4:30AM to Visions to get a good deal on a 27" flat screen Sony TV. While in line we checked the flyer to discover a smoking deal on some excellent bookshelf speakers ($128 down from 400+). Picked up both the TV and the speakers, overall was very worth it. |
