[Costco] TDK DVD+/-R 16x 100pk @ costco $17.50 july2-july8

I haven't bought TDK discs since 1999 so i was wondering how well they fair these days. From July second costco has them on sale at 50%. Last time I checked at Costco they were 45$ so they will be $22.50 from july 2nd to july 8th. Some people are reporting that the discs are 35$ right now so the discs might end up being $17.50. Makes the deal even hotter. :)

So 22.50 starting July 2nd? If I buy now would they guarantee the price later on?

As long as you bring in your receipt DURING the week that it's on sale, they'll give you the price difference.

However, they never run out of this, so unless you really need DVDs now, it's easier to just wait till the sale week.

Dont bother with TDK media, its a deal if you want drink coasters but thats about it ....

There 2X media was FANTASTIC ... very very high quality, anything made in taiwan from them is very iffy to say the least... some will burn and work, most will burn and skip a lot ... not worth it at any price imo ...

just a note OP: maybe you wanna put '100 pk', or '16x' in the title thread, it would make things clearer! :D Otherwise good post OP!

TDK media has gone downhill significantly. Some people have good luck with it, but a lot of people have very poor results. For myself, I've got a spindle of DVD+R that's ok, but a spindle of DVD-R that won't burn on anything but my BenQ DW1640 with solidburn enabled and the speed dropped to 4x... even then the results aren't that good.

I've also heard that Imation is considering pulling TDK out of North America, and focusing entirely on Memorex brand products instead. The plan is to do the opposite in Europe (Memorex out, focus on TDK). It might just be a rumour though.
Current DVD Burner Suggestion? Stick with Pioneer

Lemme see, in Ontario that would be $34.99 + 14% tax - half of 34.99 = $22.50.
Cheaper than that buy one get one free on $45 couple of months back.

I dunno about the problems other people may have had. I just went thru 300 TDK disks from Costco since their last promotion, so 3-4 months tops. Time to stock up again.

I've gone through ~ 150 of my TDK's 16X without a failure in the last 3 months, since Cosco's last sale (printable +). Fast and fine for me.

I wasn't impressed by the TDK, they didn't seem durable, some didn't burn for me in my stack, don't think I'll repeat.

If anyone has these ones in the new packaging, let me know if:
a) they're printable
b) if they're hub printable

The older ones with the white wrapping (for +R) weren't hub printable.

Thanks.

I have burned around 250 of these TDKs without a single coaster. I think the media is great, but it is more dependant on the burner than the media!

No wonder, I bought a spindle of Imation 16x +R @$21.99 last time they're on sale at BB and they are ok if I burnt them at 6x with Pioneer 112D, 112D can burn them at 12X max but I found burning them at 8X or over increase the chance of being a coaster a lot.

Last time I used these TDK disks (about 6 months ago), I would only burn them at 8x or slower. If I burned them at 16x, I would have problems playing to the end of the disk.

When looking on the burnt side of the media, you can see close to the outer edge of the disk where the burn did NOT complete. IT's almost like the disk was warped, because there were "patches" on the disk that looked like they were not completely burned properly.

If you need to burn them, burn the slowly. I experienced this on my Pioneer 112 and my LG 4167B drives.
