Howdy!
Read about that at The Inquirer and didn't find anything about it in here so... Pricenoia.com compares the price of an article on 6 Amazon sites (.com, .uk, .de, .jp, .ca and .fr) and tells how much it would cost to order it from all of them, shipping and exchange rate included. Could be handy for someone and some of the results could be surprising. The original article is here: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23616 |

- no there is no tax (or "duty"). it is shipped from within our borders. all you pay is the price of the item, shipping, and its all done in US funds - free shipping offers do not apply to us - books, cds, dvds etc you can purchase. electronics, toys, etc you can't point of reference - you can buy from any amazon world site. |

Amazon purchases are shipped from within Canada's borders. so no there are no taxes. and yes you can register with a canadian address and cc. after purchasing many many many anime dvds, books and CDs from them i can say this with absolute authority. |

I can back him up on that. I've bought 60+ DVDs and probably a dozen books from Amazon.com over the past 3-4 years and have never paid a cent in tax. What you pay for shipping from .com is generally a lot less than what you pay for GST+PST from .ca, and often times, the US price is cheaper to begin with.
Another major benefit to ordering DVDs from Amazon.com is you don't get those horrid English/French hybrid covers (nothing against the French language, I'm talking about aesthetics). |

I have given up on Amazon.ca and Chapters.ca. I order most of my stuff through Amazon.com now and thanks to the original poster for this site.
I swear Amazon.ca gets their stuff shipped from Amazon.com and then they ship it to you. My most recent (and likley last) purchase on Amazon.ca was to ship within 24 hours and I chose free shipping. A few days go by and no book and no shipping info. I order from Amazon.com where the price with shipping still comes to less than Amazon.ca. The books arrive on the same day... Also, I have never been charged duty, tax, or brokerage on books from Amazon.com. |

So there are no benefits to ordering from the .ca site? I ordered a book yesterday and it came to $24.53 Cdn. Going through .com it comes to US$18.01. Only a $1-3 difference (factoring in the bad exchange rates and extra charges I get from my credit card) but if there really is no difference between the two I will cancel my .ca order.
