first of all, sorry for another university thread, but I am having a REALLY tough time deciding on a University. I got into life sci at Mac and UTM, and Human bio at UofT downtown.
Ive heard from a lot of people that Mac has an overall easier science program than UofT, making your life less stressful. But the bad thing about it is the cost of residence and less recognition of the degree than UofT's. UTM would be the easiest in terms of not having ot cook/clean and not having ot pay for res. However, most people i talk to from UTM tell me to stear clear because its too hard. I'm not really afraid to work hard and know i can get the marks if i do (i have a 90% average right now). UofT downtown gives u a better education and its degree is more recognized from what i hear. also, it offers a lot more and interesting courses in 3rd/4th year than either mac or UTM. But, the cost of Res is WAY too much (8k at new college). If i commute there (by car) every day, it wil ltake atleast an hour each way (inclusing traffic and other regular delays). so... as u can see, its a pretty tough choice and any input from u guys will be greatly appriciated.

Commuting to St. George really sucks, so you might be better off going to MAC. They have an on-campus hospital, so that's a plus for you.
If you really want to go to St. George (very good school, I love it, I'm in science too, not lifesci though) I'd recommend you get a metropass and park at a TTC station. Driving and parking downtown will be way more expensive *and* cause more headaches. |

if its for science, downtown st.george ownz them all. there is no other program/place that can rival or match the science program at UT downtown (in Canada). Its their speciality in my opinion. if you think otherwise, your simply biased or ignorant. factoring other things like residence and commuting would alter this depending on what you need. i wouldnt go to UTM though, i say Mac would be better.

Avoid UTM, I liked it at Mac, can't say anything about UT downtown though, but Mac has a smaller campus, which I find a plus myself. I just finished first year science at Mac.

Well I took courses from both UTM and UT St George.
For commerce and management the level of difficulty is the same on both campuses as the teachers and exams are the same. I actually found that UTM had a higher level than St George (but I'm not here to debate that). I am suspecting that they are of about equal level for science as well. I would avoid UTSG because it's crowded and really impersonal unless you're on res. If you're on res, you'll make plenty of friends (aw the good ole times...). If you want a more "campus-like" university, UTM is good. As for recognition, it won't make a difference if you're a UTM, UTSC or UTSG student because you'll all be graduating with the same UofT degree. Now that I have said that, I will now be accepting any congratulations because I'M GRADUATING IN 8 DAYS

Don't bother driving downtown...it'll be a large headache when you figure out your schedule and find that you have to travel during rush hour to and from school...in addition you'll have to pay for parking, gas, etc, etc...if you need to commute, try using the GO...if you live near the Lakeshore line, commuting is a snap since the train makes everything that much easier...
But if you can somehow get the cash, try and live on rez...it'll help your UofT experience...being a day student/commuter contributes to the "impersonal feel of UTSG"... |

I know what you mean man You know those 1 hour work days (...followed by a 5 hour break) and sleeping at 7 am and waking up a 2 in the afternoon is over. Goodbye laziness, hello 9 hour workdays!

Not to mention the guys look like gangstars or the girls look like they could go to high school... That's all IMO, so take it with a grain of salt. All I'm saying is that student life and atmosphere at UTM could be a lot better. edit: And congrats! What did you just finish in? Are you going to be working starting the fall?
