S.T.A.L.K.E.R anyone?

It's apparently on newsgroups. I'm going to see if it will run on my antiquated system.

Well the mutliplayer beta played with all setting on high MAX AA/AF @ 1680x1050 with no dynamic lighting (Vid Card couldn't handle it).

My specs are 3700+, 1gb ram, and ATI AIW x800xl AGP. Just so you can get a feel of what your system can do.

Don't bother. I just installed and played this game. It's L.A.M.E.

IGN review of it indicated a good game but not awesome in any respect. Like the poster above me stated, what did you not like about it?

I've been playing nextgen console games since Xmas so my expectations of a game has risen astronomically. It ran ok on my 3 yr old PC but the game play is very slow and the whole concept of collecting items to barter for weapons/armor, etc doesn't appeal to me all that much. The shooting mechanics is really great. You can't just shoot someone with a pistol and expect them to die within a few shots. It's like an airsoft gun with little to no effect unless you shoot them in the face.

I think it is my tainted perspective of what a good shooter must be from all the GoW, GRAW, R6V.. anyway, not my cup of tea.

This is a shooter-RPG, not a shooter. I started playing this a little. Interesting, but I only played for 30 minutes so I cannot tell you whether it is cool or not. But from what I have played, interesting concept - it is a shooter-RPG in the sense that you pick object and do you stuff with them. I read that is is open ended so you can do what you wish in it - it is not linear like simple shooter games.

You've managed to sum it up much more nicer than I could. It is very tedious for people who just want to run and gun. The aspect of reading dialogue rather than hear a badly acted voice actor do it is rarely done. Someone mentioned this game was first announced in 2001 CES and the graphics do show it. Quite honestly, it's a good game that requires the player have some patience and an attention span greater than an 8 year old. Might fire it up later and have another go. Using the keyboard/mouse again felt awkward.

I remember watchin some E3 clips like in 2005 or 2006, and they were hyping this game a lot.

Maybe you should go into a game knowing what it's about. If you want a mindless shooter, go play one. This isn't it and wasn't designed as one. OH NOES it requires patience more than a 8 year old? LOL you sound like a misinformed troll.

Hopefully gonna try it in the next few days with high-end system. I'll report back on my findings I enjoyed Oblivion and various shooters so it sounds interesting.

Seriously the guy's complaints are awful:

1) Its not a run and gun!
- its not MEANT to be. It's a RPG-shooter, do your damn research before you spew.

2) Graphics are horrid!
- maybe on your 4 year old PC but on my 4 month old PC it looks beautiful. Oh and I play Gears and Vegas on 360 all the time so don't gimme that.

Just played the game for a bit. It's a bit laggy on my comp sometimes (Athlon 3000+, 1gb RAM, 6600GT), but otherwise no complaints. Great game so far, but those mutant dogs are annoying.
