Planning to do a road trip from Vancouver BC to San Francisco. This will be my first road trip and would appreciate any advice/suggestions that you may have.
Thanks in advance. |

I drove from Vancouver to San Francisco non-stop(except for Mcdonald and Gas) in about 16 hours, the drive there is mostly boring with not much to see. San Francisco is a nice city, but I totally regret not driving to LA for only another 5 hours or so.

Take your time. Sure, you can make it in 14 hours, but to make ait a really memorable trip, spend a couple days driving the Oregon Coast (Highway 101 I think). It's unbelievable.. the sand dunes, the golden cliffs, the many tourist stops, the Redwood Forest once you get into Cali... and just south of the Redwoods, there's an awesome free camping spot right on the beach.
I like San Fran way more than LA. You'll have a good time. Great food. Nice people (just don't drive over the bridge into Oakland... ) and a lot of cool sites.

Make sure when you get to San Fran to actually drive around in the downtown core. There are a few roads that are at about a 45 degree incline. Going up the hill reminded me of going up a rollarcoaster. And of course you can't miss Lombard St. "The crookedest street in the World".
