My friend has this issue and I have no idea how to fix it. The system tray icons are really small. Any idea how to resize them to normal size?

Simplest way: Change your theme, apply, then change it back to the theme you were using.
Other way: Display Properties -> Appearance -> Advanced -> Item -> Caption Buttons. Change the size. 25 should be default. You icons may look blocky afterwards. A reboot should fix it.
