Default Question about refusing delivery for futureshop order

Hi, I purchased something online from FS on friday night but now
I want to cancel the order. They won't let me cancel the order,
they said it's already too far along and it's ready to ship even
though it's saturday and they probably won't ship until Monday
or Tuesday. Now I have to pay the shipping charge.

Can I refuse accepting the shipment so that I don't have to
pay the shipping charge?

Anybody know or ever do this before?

Thanks.

Yes, you can refuse. It'll be sent back to FS, and they'll have to credit you back.

Is this a full-proof method? I tried asking nicely but was told once my credit card purchase was authorized, I wouldn't be able to cancel my bestbuy online order.

credit card company will have your back. If they don't deliver the goods, you don't pay. If they charge your card they have to prove it was delivered. Only thing I could backfiring is they left your package at your doorstep without a signature and your an honest person.

I had this happen to me. They already shipped and I could not cancel. Even though there is this leg work for you to do, you can accept the shipment, go instore and return it. When you return it, the receipt you will receive has a identification number which you call back to FS and they will credit your card back the shipping charges. This is faster then denying the shipment, atleast you get your money back for the item first.

Now that I said that, you can now figure out how to beat FS on their shipping changes and get the item you want without shipping.

I'm pretty sure the OP already dealt with this issue back in Oct/Nov 2006.

Jester, when did you do the return? I made the purchase at Bestbuy, Futureshop's parent company. Do you think I can be credited back the shipping charges when I call their hotline and present the Identification Number? I have called thrice and the answer I've been getting is that I will not get the shipping charges back. But this isn't contrary to your statement as it would be the hotline that would credit the charges back and not the store where I returned the merchandise. I'll give BB a call and ask if I can get a refund on my shipping charges once I provide an identification number. Would the refund slip actually indicate it as an identification number? Thanks.

It's strange for them to disallow cancellation once the credit card has been authorized (which can be lightning quick at times). It's not as if the item is not picked and packed by a real person.

Probably will just get left at your door. Best bet is to take it back to FS, return it then try to get shipping back. Honestly its your mistake for ordering something then regret buying it. If you can't get shipping back, just thank the fact you at least don't need to pay restocking fees.

I rejected the shipment and here is the response I got when I requested for BB to initiate the crediting back of the entire purchase amount. Since I did not even receive the goods, am I really stuck with the shipping cost? I will most likely dispute the shipping amount plus taxes and request my credit card company for a chargeback as I never received the goods and therefore am not responsible for any charges.

I tried to cancel my online order an hour after ordering it and bestbuy customer service (phone call) wouldn't let me. There was no cancel order button either which is why I am so pissed off. What kind of online ordering processing system is that, it wasn't until 2 days after that canadapost picked the item up from BB and they wouldn't allow for cancellaton an hour after placing the order online. It was also a customer service representative who suggested that I reject the shipment and now they want me to pay for the shipping cost.

Thank you for your e-mail regarding order number 7549100.

Once we have confirmation that the item has been received back to our warehouse, you will receive your refund back. We unfortunately are not able to provide you with the shipping back on this order, as shipping is non-refundable.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

Thank you for visiting Bestbuy.ca.
