Because all the time my speed was increasing as my foot was firm on the gas pedal, when I saw OPP hiding, I glanced my speedometer (which has digital reading) which was at 91 miles and I hit the brakes, not hard but to slow it down.

sounds like your speedometers is in imperial....the km is slightly off esp due to the size

In particular, there was no speed limit for trucks beyond the stipulation that they had to exceed the speed of the vehicle they were passing by 20 km/h.

so you would have hit 150 if the cop wasn't there then? I don't think you should mention that in court.

if you keep comparing the autobahn and our highways, you might as well compare their licensing requirements and testing to ours as well. is mommy markham in the MPV skilled enough to drive on an autobahn?

The cop was probably not BS'ing.

You were bouncing on and off the 150km/h range and did not know it. Next time, if you try to do that again, take micro second glances if you're speedo near this barrier and go close to it and not over it. lol

sorry, but good luck in court. Maybe you'll get it reduced to 149km/h.. But you might be SOL thinknig you didn't do it as a defence.

shrug. 40 hours of instruction(what do people who take young driver's here get?). 12 hours in a car with a licensed instructor, which is comparable to what young driver's students get. Costs 2000+ euros, though, so people value the process more and study harder so they don't have to repeat it.

Incidentally, the demerit points system was started in Germany, as was (I think) the whole idea of a driver's license.

It's not speed qua speed that's going to kill mommy markham. Really, you're making an argument for better training for everyone, not harsher speeding laws.

One thing I think is better in Germany though is the minimum age of 18 - a 16 year old male should not be behind the wheel.

91 miles? You drive an imported American version? If it has the digital display, it only displays KM/h, right?
