Default product placement in games

i for one would greatly like product placement in games because it would lower game cost and monthly fees (for mmorpg). Adverting is all around us, why not put it in games (like ads on TV). Of course, it must be executed correctly so that it would not ruin the gaming experience.
what do you guys think?

Maybe if it's subtle enough. We have enough of "in your face" advertising everywhere else. It's pretty ridiculous!

EA is especially guilty of sticking product placement everywhere in games. Very annoying. Especially Axe deoderant ads. Even spotted a couple in def jam NY!

The honda elements stuck all over SSX3 were especially crude I felt. Although in tony hawk they have jeeps etc.. Same sort of deal.

Product placement in games probably isn't going to be going away anytime soon, unfortunately!

Just like product placement in movies, and sports events lower the costs of those?

It'll just be a cash cow for the companies. It would have little to no effect on the cost of games.

If the ads look like what you would see in real life, then I'm all for it. For example I have no problem seeing billboards on all of the NHL/NBA/NFL whatever sports games out there.

I don't mind product placement.
Heck, it'll even make games more realistic since that's what you see in TV and movies anyways.
I totally doubt it'll lower game prices though ...

Gamers have even shorter attention spans then TV watchers... so I doubt there would be much advertising benefit.
