Question Problem Connecting wireless router!

I have an asante FR1104-g router which I am trying to use to network my desktop and laptop which has a 3com 802.11b card.
Followed the instructions given and managed to hook up my desktop successfully.. haha.. but with the laptop, I don't seem to be able to go online

It detects wireless and says I am connected, however, I cannot use a web browser or go on msn, or anything online for that matter.

My laptop doesn't detect a LAN, can that be the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Do an ipconfig/all from the laptop and the desktop and post the results.

You have to go to start>run>"cmd" then type ipconfig/all to have the DOS stay, and your information

If the router is running dhcp than your laptop requires dhcp to connect. With "ipconfig" see if you are getting an IP like 192.168.1.?? or 192.168.2.??

Encryption may also block you from connecting. Find out what type the router has and configure the laptop accordingly.

You can also google connecting a wireless network.

Enable DHCP on your laptop.

i went to wireless network-->properties->internet protocol-> properties and set obtain an IP address automatically and obtain DNS server address automatically

Now when I do a ipconfig/all i have:

Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255

This doesn't look too good.. any suggestions?

try to disable your lan card, and only enable your wireless card. some PC will conflict each other and you can only use either one of the cards.

Make sure you are selecting your wireless NIC and not the wired NIC on the laptop when setting DHCP. (Actually, you want both to be DHCP)

Does the laptop still say it is connected wirelessly?

Default Driver

Check your System Properties and make sure you have a driver for your wireless card.

Also check My Network Places and make sure you have two connections listed. One for the wired and one for the wireless.
