I'm considering switching my telus landline and telus adsl to primus talkbroadband and 3web. However, I'm wondering how comparable primus voip is to a telus landline.
As for 3web, how would I go about setting it up if there are no cable outlets? I rent a basement with an illegal cable coming down. Aside from having to unplug and hide all my tvs, how would they go about installing an outlet.. and how much would it cost? Oh, what's the cheapest way of getting a shaw cable modem. It's just ridiculous that I'm paying $27.99 for landline with no features and 37.99 for ADSL internet that's only 1.5 Mbps. Thanks. |

I am considering the same, except 3Web is not in my area, for both cable and DSL.
As for illegal cable line .. I had a similar thing before (well, not really illegal but we used splitter for the extra TV sets so we only paid for one TV). Basically the technician doesn't care. He gets paid to install it and that's it. One of them even hinted to me about adding a splitter myself instead of paying extra! (this was in my current home). This was in both of my previous homes (Shaw and Cogeco) and one of them we weren't even paying cable for because I guess they didn't bother to add the filter in after the previous owner left.

The cheapest way to get a shaw cable modem is to buy it for $59.95 and use their service for 1st month free then cancelling it, tell them you're moving or switching to adsl. BTW, 59.95 includes installation, so pretend you dont know anything and have shaw come in to set everything up, then when you switch to 3web they won't need to come in to setup at all. Its like 60 dollars for the modem, installation and 1 month free internet.
I should post this is the hot deal section.
