Default Personal belongings at Work

Do anyone leave/decorate their office with personal belongings?

I know some people keeps nothing at work, and there are those who moves in their kitchen sink. I usually don't keep personal things at work (unless its locked up) but am thinking of putting up some items I gathered from my travels at work to remind me of fun times on absolutely boring days.

So what your opinions of people "decorating" their offices? And what do you personally keep at work?

So far, I have maps and small items I bought while in Japan, and some school books that I still use at work.

Haha it's only a summer job, and I've pretty much decked out my office... (yes, I get my own office). I have a couple pictures around, my calendar... etc. Couple mugs in the cabinet and some snacks too. Oh, and the pillows on the couch are mine too. The closet is a quarter full with my clothes and shoes :P Pretty much feels like my bedroom without a bed.. lol

Pester your boss to replace that couch with a sofa-bed, and you've got that problem solved.

My office used to belong to someone from the senior management team, but he retired in April, so when I came along in May, they stuck me in this room and told me no one would be replacing him till October anyways :P

The only personal belongings I have at work are my steel toe shoes (which I haven't used in like, 1.5 years), an extra pair of shoes for winter (or incase my shoes get soaked), a pair of headphones, a water bottle, and a tiny christmas tree I keep at my desk year round. And a box of kleenex. That's it as far as my personal belongings go.

One box rule - everything I bring must fit into one box just in case I am asked to leave the premises LOL I have a bunch of framed pictures of my daughter, my workout shoes I keep in a drawer (so I don't have to cart them back and orth every day), a 60oz desk-sized water dispenser, a desk fan, a radio, a calendar, Vaseline, a box of cereal, 2 quotes which remind me why I have to work for a living, Agave Nectar for my coffee, and some pretty fake yellow flowers I bought at the dollar store. It's personal but not overly so, not offensive in any way but makes me comfortable as I am here 8-10 hours a day.

And then create a whole bunch of new problems with most of the men (and possibly some of the women) in your office :P

So the office is not yours to keep... so you get used to the nice office and then come October they kick you out and put you in a cubicle. LOL

Like I said, it's a summer job. May-September. I'm out of here in a couple weeks so it doesn't affect me

I have absolutely no personal belongings in my office other than a picture of my wife that I keep on my desk and some snacks that I lock in my drawer. If I could lock my office door I would do that too...

To all you people who keep clothes and shoes and snacks at your desks, take a minute to think about your co-workers and decide how much you trust them...

A couple of years ago I read an article about a guy who was arrested for committing indecent acts at his workplace against a girl that he was obsessed with. The girl apparently went to the gym before work one morning and the creepy guy went into her gym bag while she was out to lunch and stole her panties. After a couple of occurrences she figured out that there was a thief at her work, so she talked to another co-worker. They set up a webcam on the other co-workers desk and caught the thief in action.

When he was confronted he admitted to everything and was fired. When they were clearing out the guy's desk, they discovered a journal where he had written about all the things that he had done to the girl he was obsessed with. The article didn't list all the nasty things, but the one thing it did say was that the guy had written about "fouling" the girl's reuseable water bottle on numerous occassions.

I am a guy, but after reading that article I was disgusted enough to begin locking my stuff away.

My office is in my house...so yes..it has some personal effects...

I've never been one to bring much in...maybe a photo or two (but even then just because I feel I should) when I worked in an office though...just personal preference I suppose.
