Default peacoats for winter

I'm planning to get a peacoat that's form fitting.

Last year I went to Old navy to try on one of theirs but it was a little bloated. I also saw one from Club monaco that I really liked but it was over $200.

so I'm looking for one reasonably priced and form fitting (slim waist, slim arm + shoulders).

Any suggestions?
Some people suggested army surplus but i'm pretty sure their sizes aren't slimming at all unless they're vintage....

In clothing, cheap is almost always mutually exclusive with 'fitting'.

Old Navy fits like sh*t. Try Zara, they often fit very nice. Although I'm betting their peacoats are about $150-$200.

my girlfriend has a peacoat from jacob that looks quite good. no idea on the 'slimming' features, but jacob's prices are usually pretty good compared to other stores when considering the quality of their merchandise.

I'd say Burberry but they're even more expensive than ZARA or CM...
Try London Fog or Jones New York when the Bay has sales on.

how long do you think peacoats generally last for? Is there a major difference in the quality and durability of quality coats and coats from say club monaco?

Check the Holt Renfrew Outlet store called "last call" or something at Vaughn Mills mall. They are still expensive $200-500 but are pretty trendy.

Old Navy is probably the lowest quality ever for a peacoat. Oh that and Orfus Rd. Anything with merino wool or cashmere is probably going to last a while with proper care.

You can feel the difference in quality!! Better quality coats are also lined with nicer material. I personally think the cut and quality at Old Navy is quite poor but their clothes are quite cheap, so that's the trade-off. I would expect better quality coats to last longer with proper care (less pilling, etc.)

Pea coats are classic, and it bothers me when people treat them like disposable trends ("this season, I want a pea coat"). They should be fitted, big enough to wear over a sweater, but not big enough to wear over a suit. Anyway, if you're going to get a pea coat, get the real deal. Try a surplus place, or order from a company that produces it according to US Navy specs - like Schott.
