The Ontario Power Authority is running its coupon program again, with some new discounts on lights, timers and other stuff. Here's the link:

I need to replace the noisy (buzzing) fluorescent light tubes in my laundry room. How do I know when I see them in the store whether or not they will not buzz? Is there something to look for on the packaging?

Edit: ah yes they did this was $30 last week before rebate, now it's back up to $100. This one with no remote sensor is $39.99, so minus the two rebates would bring it to $10 before taxes. Last edited by manytwos; Sep 17th, 2007 at 10:44 PM.. |

Electronic ballast fluorescent lights won't buzz, and they last longer and are more energy efficient. The coupon covers it for $5 off the ballast. FYI, the other type of ballast is the cheap and heavy magnetic ones (which is basically a big inductor).

Thanks for the info. Does Canadian Tire sell those electronic ballasts or would I be better off going to Home Depot or someplace else? Is the ballast in the housing or something in the tubes themselves?
