i am in search for large capacity >100GB 10,000 RPM SATA drive.
i heard horrible stories about raptor drives with high noise levels. can someone post some recommendations for good quality quiet 10,000 RPM drives? |

AFAIK, the Raptor is the only 10,000 RPM SATA drive...
I always thought the Raptor was quiet anyway, based on some SPCR reviews http://www.silentpcreview.com/article622-page2.html Last edited by Kwirky; Mar 30th, 2008 at 01:47 AM.. |

i read the same article too before i post this; somehow, my take of it was different than yours. especially after hearing the recordings on the site.
it is very loud. not as bad as the old 7200.10, but yikes still. are there new models coming in the pipline soon within the next 1-2 months (if so, i can wait this long)? |

raptors are outclassed by the 750GB/1TB drives now anyways.... purely because these mammoths have extremely high densities that make up for the lower RPM
