Default Need Help With TTL Flash Nikon

Here is the story.

The Flash i own is the Sigma EF-500 DG Super NA-ITTL

I used to own a Nikon D50. All of the flashes features used to work perfectly.

Now i bought a D80 this weekend. With the sigma flash on the D80, the TTL is not working for some reason. The Flash box in the LCD display is flashing.

(optional speedlight that does not support i-TTL set to TTL mode) thats what it says in the manual for that cause.

Im confused any help ????
I know the flash used to work like a horse on my D50.
Im fairly new to SLR photography so bare with me

From what you've posted, if the Sigma flash does not support iTTL, then you must put the flash into A or M (Automatic or Manual) mode to work with the D80.

You likely had to do this with your D50......

I don't use my flash much so I'm not as experienced with it but I'm pretty sure putting the flash into A or M should get it to work with the D80.

Contact Sigma, you may need to send it in to be rechipped. Known issue with some of the EF-500's.

Yes. You may have a flash that was chipped prior to D80 compatibility. Bring it back to Henry's and get an SB-600 if they will let you do an exchange. A bit less power and what not but complete compatibility with Nikon's system. No headaches.
