Default Need help picking phone!

The more I read the more I get confused. I was pretty much set on picking up a w800i/800/810i untill I found out that it doesn't support DMS 850mHz (could somebody please clarify what exactly this means??) and therefor sound quality would be pretty crappy... Is this the same with the k750? I was also looking at that although I opted for the w800\810 because of included 512MB card and headphones, the phone *will* be used as my primary mp3 player so yea it's important. Although the w600 is far cheaper and seems like a good alternative... (it also supports DMS 850mHz) how is the 1.3MP camera when compared to the 2MP cam in the k750/w8x0 series? The samsung d500/600 also seem pretty decent. Anyways I need opinions!!! Price isn't really too much of an issue, I can save up for w/e but under 400-500ish would be nice. Here's what I'm looking for in terms of features (listed from most to least important):

-voice transmission quality
-mp3 player quality
-Camera quality
-Extra features like games/apps/w/e

Thanks in advance!

hey bud

what you want is something with 850, id recommend a w810...i havnt used it personally yet but right now its a hot phone....check out bongowireless.com they have resonable pricing on it....

w810 also has expandable memory for mp3's like you mentioned

now a w600 even if it has 850, wont meet your needs not because of the camera but because it has 256 mb memory and thats ALL no expandable....so you may get bored with the small vairity of tracks....however w600 has some of the best speakers for play music w/o the headset......my opinion ugly form factor

d600/d500 i wouldnt recommend either

d500 has a cap of 90mb

d600 also it has 850 and expandable for some reason i feel w810 would still be abetter choice as a mp3 player, w810 also has the possibility of putting up to a 2gig stick for more mp3's [ive heard of a 4 gig stick too actually], a d600 takes transflash....only a 512mb tf is the largest right now

btw the only thing i dont like with the w810 is the look and the buttons....if you can get past that ur set!

thank for the advice but whats the problem with a phone not supporting the 850mHz band? Is it simply coverage? or what?

850 mhz is simply Rogers' principal band for cell phones. It gives you better coverage, but honestly if you live in a big city (Toronto/Montreal, etc) it doesnt make any difference. I had a 850mhz cell phone, and just bought a w900 that doesnt have the 850mhz band, and I see absolutely no difference. The signal is as strong with 1900mhz than it was with 850mhz..
So if you think you have a coverage good enough in your city, I think it doesnt matter what phone you buy... but the w900i is so NICE!! If you want 850mhz absolutely, the w810 has it and is nice too.

I'm located in kingston, it's not a major city at all. It's right inbetween toronto and montreal on the 401. I checked the fido network (GSM 1900mHz) coverage and kingston was listed under 'extended coverage' which uses the rogers network.. will my phone work under the rogers network without GSM 850?

thanks for the reply but it's sort of useless if it's not backed up with info.. Did you have problems using a phone that did not support GSM 850? knowing your location might help too ^^;

depending on how much cash you wanna blow

w810 is more expensive, but SE phones generally have amazing cameras

the d600 is far cheaper at the moment and also features the 850 mhz
both are good phones with nice features, also the screen is bigger on the d600

depends how you like em

the w810 isn't a pda phone, its just a high end camera/mp3 player phone that sony ericsson offers. I would say go with the SE p910i or if you wanna wait p990 if you want a pda which you can also use as a mp3 player

This should not belong in BST forum, but anyway ..

What about the Motorola ROKR? Mine works fine. Mp3's sound great, and it has all the features you need, plus comfortable to hold unlike those bulky W800i, Razr, etc. Oh, and be sure to get the "crystal" hard case for it on eBay. No more silicon, plastic, or leather for me.
