Exclamation Microsoft Ultimate Steal for University - Office $64 / Vista Ult Upgrade $70

RFD link here: http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-ca/

Office Ultimate 2007

$ 64.00
Backup DVD $13

This is how it worked last year. To be eligible, you have to have a Canadian university email address. Then you can sign up for an account with Ultimate Steal. Your CD key along with the download package link is sent to you via email, upon which you shall download the package to be installed on your computer, entering the CD key you were provided with.

Last year's download file size was 500 MB. I assume this year's size will be similar or slightly larger, so be prepared to wait.

Last year's thread if you have any more questions: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...d.php?t=489701

Posted before, please check. I think in that thread someone talked about emailing the USA ultimate steal using your school email and they will come back with a link where you can grab that for 64$

BTW, U of T engineers and computer sciencers get Vista Ultimate (non-upgrade version) for free under MSDNAA.

This isn't a repost. The last thread was for the American deal.

Also, universities tend to dish out Vista Business under MSDNAA, not Ultimate.

You can only buy 1 license per product. So I don't think you can install on multiple machines. Only way to know is to actually try it on multiple machines when you do buy it.

from the site:

Purchase Limitations:
Eligible students may purchase up to three licenses, but no more than one license from each of the three sections above per valid e-mail address or billing address.

I got Office last year, but I'm going to grab the Ultimate upgrade this year for sure. Always wanted to see how well it'll run on my laptop. And plus, It'll finally give me a good reason to format said laptop and get rid of the dell crap installed on it (albeit not a whole lot since it's a Vostro) and also get rid of the recovery partition.

neat. Wondering if I should get vista Ulimitate for $70. Won't be installing it right away as i'm currently fine with XP but I guess it will always be good to get.

EDIT: hmm checked out MSDNAA and they have XP Pro for $25, maybe I should go the legal route

Unless the rules have changed from the past, I would say yes, but you need the original valid copy of your OS. I had an upgrade version of windows 98 a few years back. I did a couple of clean installs inserting the W-98 upgrade disk from the dos re-boot. During the install, a message appeared for me to insert my CD of Windows 95 in order to confirm I was eligible. After about 20 seconds of reading from the cd-rom, I had to reinsert the upgrade version and all was fine.

I have never upgraded since as the 2 computers I have bought since both had XP installed. Maybe someone else can confirm on a more recent version.

Thanks for the reply but yeah I think things have changed since then. There used to be a loop hole with vista upgrade keys but I don't know if that still works anymore.
