Call them to follow up. They put my application on hold and didn't tell me, I had to call in to get it done.

Yeah, it's strange. When I called to apply, they immediately sent me to the credit dept. after taking down all my info... only to be told that the credit dept. won't get the info for a few days. (Bad internal database I guess.)

So, they said I could call back in a few days or wait for their call. They never called. About a week and a half later I called them. Everything had been approved but they were waiting for me to call back before doing the final approval and sending me the stuff.

P.S. Again, they approved me for way more than I wanted, despite the fact I specifically did not want a huge credit amount. But, I just reduced the amount on the spot and told them not to increase it without my permission. Some don't mind having huge amounts of unused credit card space. However, I prefer having enough so I can keep my credit card usage ratios very low, but don't have so much where the numbers become ridiculously high.

Same thing here. Applied Apr 8, the credit guy said the systems were down and they'd process my app the next day. 3 weeks passed and finally got a call asking to verify a couple pieces of info. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks to get my card. And yeah, sounds like they gave me a way higher limit than I would've liked. I'll get that reduced when I actually get the card.

Whats going on is this: You were randomly pick to follow the Chit Path to Smart Card Success.

1) You apply on Day 1 - MBNA says you will receive card in 7-10 Days.
2) Business Day 2 - MBNA didn't really take you serious - MBNA waiting for you to callback to verify you were serious about Application
3) Business Day 9 - MBNA now knows you were serious - but waits for you to call back again so that they can instantly approve you by phone
4) Business Day 14 - If you converted, Your new account now shows up on your online profile
5) You callback on Day 15 - MBNA says since you were just approved, it will take 10-15 for you to receive your Card
6) Business Day 19 - You call to have this escalated. Supervisor has no idea where your card is, but decides to say it was mailed out last week
7) Business Day 20 - You call to confirm when it was mailed out - Rep says it was mailed out yesterday
8) 1 Month after applying - You receive your card and start spending Cash Money!

i know it isnt meant to be funny but it's still funny...

I have to thank the OP for the thread... Will transition from CIBC Classic Visa to a cashback card, finally.

Process:

Applied on Apr 16, credit check and approval on Apr 20th, received the card yesterday, May 4th.

All in all, not too bad.

Looking forward to the benefits of the card.

Got my card today. Tks RFD.

Here how i apply for a new cc.
1. apply card on phone at 16 apr.
2. call in at 24 apr got approve. and rep says will mail the card out within 13 business day.
3. May 1 received my first MBNA cc with a "UNSEAL" envelope and the wrong address. (city name wrong too~~)
4. May 1 call in for replacement card. reps say "i sould recevied the cc on next day (ship Fedex)...
5. May 2 call in reps said " Fedex not shipping on saturday so i will receive on mondy....
6. May 3 call in reps said my CC is not shipping out yet... i will receive after wed May 6.
7. Today May 4, I got my CC ...... again with an "unseal" MBNA evelope ......
