Default Looking for Furniture in the GTA?

Anyone looking for furniture for their nursery should check out 'Concord Furniture' They have rockers, bassinets, cribs etc.

I haven't actually purchased anything there so I can't personally speak for the quality but the place has been recommended to me. Supposedly the prices are great.

Their website is www.concordfurniturecanada.com

I bought a crib with Babycribs1 (an ebay store)...
http://stores.ebay.ca/BABY-CRIBS

They have a store in etobicoke and you can quote the ebay price.
Good quality crib for a great price...

I don't know about the other furniture though.

I second this notion. All the furniture is top notch!

If you go to the Mississauga store, ask for Fernando. He's also the guy who does all the posts on EBAY.

Have recommended all my friends and family and would not go anywhere else!

Cheers!

I dropped by this store a few weeks ago. A couple kids were working the showroom. I was looking around for a salesperson when one of them asked me if I wanted a price list. I found it odd that they wouldn't just stick a price on their furniture instead of hiding them in a drawer only to hand it out. It was also odd to have a 12 year old helping customers and a 17 year old telling people that they are a business and have to charge tax.

While I was there, there was a couple complaining that they are being charged taxes, yet on the handwritten invoice they were getting, it didn't specify that they were collecting it. It was also odd that although they take credit cards, their machine was not working when that customer was making a purchase.

You will also find them placing ads on craigslist and kijiji. They for some reason won't give you an address in those ads unless you are making an appointment. Someone's even posted a recommendation in the Hot Deals section before.

I don't get a good feeling about this company. Too many weird practices. Kinda of feel like they are selling stuff out of a van. Other than that, their prices were fair. Their hours really suck for those who work during the day.

It's funny, we were there last night, and found the same experience, with someone arguing about the cash/tax issue. It's not the easiest place to find either, and unless you have the exact location (211 Bowes Rd.), there's no signs to indicate that it is a furniture shop. Nevertheless, there were tons of customers there. I've been told by multiple family members and friends to go there. The prices seemed reasonable, although if you're looking for a complete bedroom set, it could get frustrating trying to put something together, as the help is scarce, and their layout isn't great either. I guess it's a no frills, WYSIWYG type of operation. They do have late hours on Thursday and Friday (until 7:30pm).

We also went to Babyland (near Vaughan Mills), and found their service to be excellent. They have a big sale today and tomorrow, with 10% off on Peg Perego products. We may go there this weekend to pick up a Pliko stroller.

I just went to check out this place today. Much more professional and more choices that the other recommended location in this thread. And actually it is cheaper here by at least 10%, if you go throught the ebay route.

Is eBay a better place to put baby mattress for sale than RFD? I want to avoid craigslist which is known for scammers.

My friend has a like new baby mattress purchased from Toys R Us that she's asked me to help her sell. I helped her buy it with gift cards for around $100, but she's willing to sell for cheap just to get rid of it ($40 or so?). She lives in the 16th/McCowan area in Markham and could probably deliver.

Thumbs down Don't recommend them to anyone!

Worst shopping experience ever!!! I bought a Tami Crib with a matching dresser/changing table. The dresser is acceptable however the finishing of the crib is absolutely ridiculous.
The Tami crib on display has the same finishing as the dresser however the one I got is barely coated with primer (non-toxic paint they claimed on the web – thecribshoppe.com). Rough edges throughout, spots unpainted, plus one of the legs is got grey stain marks all over. I brought the crib back for exchange, and the lady simply told me to go away. I insisted to exchange the leg that’s discolored and she argued that it’s not visible as the mattress will cover it (not true!). I finally got on hold to the owner and he gave me another leg that has similar problems but not as bad. At the same time, I raised my concern regarding the finishing and the fact that the end product doesn’t match with the one on display. He told me the display model is 5 yrs old and that’ s why it’s got shinier, what a joke! I gave up and decided to share this with you all.
Although it’s advertised that all their products are made in Europe and guess what? The stickers that they probably forgot to remove stated clearly where they’re made - China.
Be careful all the parents-to-be. I shopped around concerning my tight budget like all of you. Hope you all don’t get ripped off like I did. Go with stores that have better customer service and most importantly, a return policy!

Quick question...which store were you referring to? There were a few posted in this thread.
