Long distance Surprise!

It was late January 2005, my spouse was heading to Australia for teachers college, and we were preparing for a long year apart! A true test to any relationship! For the first month we had kept in touch with 2 minute phone calls and old school snail mail! I had set up a few surprises on Jane’s laptop for her to find periodically over the year, but, none would be better than Valentines Day!
Her laptop had a built in camera, but not being technically sound (sorry Hun) she hadn’t a clue. I had put all the shortcuts and webcam info hidden in a windows file before she left. On the 13th of February she received a package (one of many) from me, with home comforts favourite candy, and a DVD video which I sent a few previous, with enough sappy Pictures (of us) and Music to make the toughest man cry.
I left her a note in the package, to call me when she received the package, and we could watch the video together. Well over the phone, I asked her to give me remote access to her computer and I quickly set up, the rest of my plan!
Adding a little icon on the desktop called “Markus” I asked her to click on it, and within seconds she had an image of me 8000 miles away, sitting in my room at the computer! She thought it was some kind of weird start to her video, but, when I started to wave and perform actions “on command” she not only believed me, she was sobbing! A moment we will never, ever forget! I explained we could talk for free over the internet on the webcam, and over the next 6 hours, we shared many stories, pictures and facial expressions. That no phone call or package could ever replace! It became our saving grace, for those tough days at work, need to talk moments and just to visualize our lovers face, and know that they were “OK”
We are now into our 6th year, and stronger than ever, and hopefully in the not to distant future, advancing our relationship a step further (wink wink)
