Hey all
I am looking for a new mouse. I noticed that the logitech mx310 had a bunch of features and wasn't at a bad price. Just wondering what your thoughts on it are. Thanks |

well
the MX500 is only about $10+ so i would go for a MX500 because i believe that the MX310 is just designed for left handed people (unless you are a left hander) but i think that you'll be happy even if you disregard the proce difference and go for the MX310, Logicool makes great products i own the MX700 btw

the features are great
but if you're shopping for a mouse, my best recommendation is to go to the store and try them all out. it's tough to know how they will feel in your hand until you try them out, and imho that's one of the most important things to consider mx500/700 is awesome if you're right-handed and can get use to the shape (it is designed for 3 finger operation). the mx310 would be more versatile cause you can use it with left or right hand and 2 or 3 finger operation. 3 finger = index on left, middle on wheel and ring on right 2 finger = index on left, middle on right of course you can always 2 finger the mx500/700 (like I do) but you end up with your ring and pinky on the side where it's designed for just a pinky

it suprised me too, since i use two fingers but in a lot of games you need to shoot and use the wheel at the same time... so a lot of gamers use 3 fingers. i'm ok using two fingers on the mx500, but i wouldn't call it as comfortable as 3 fingers. i can't lay my ring and pinky flat on the side

i use the three fingered method though i have a cordless trackman wheel, not a mouse. on co-op terms i often found myself without a proper desk or mousing surface so i switched to trackball. i use mice on school computers but i'm pretty sure i use 3 finger there too.

i'm considering the 310 over the 500 for my laptop for a few reasons:
size: i believe the 310 is smaller and therefore more portable than the 500 price: the 300 went down to $25 in 3 months, and i bought my 500 for $38..so i'm hoping the 310 will drop to at least $30

Just picked one up today. It is currently $22 at Filtechcomputer. I've owned a bevy of Logitech mices, and a few Microsofts, and the one redeeming quality of wireless mices are clutter-free decor. I will NEVER buy another wireless mice if I can help it, so that said, the thing that drew me to the MX 310 was the fact that it was wired. It's becoming very, very hard to find any wired peripherals that aren't given sub-par attention from their makers. MX 310 isn't very glamorous, but it does have a modest set of buttons that you can program to your hearts desire. Played a little FPS and it was pretty smooth.

I have a mx310 and a mx500. Bottom line: if you're right handed, get the 500/510/518. If not, the mx310 is great, and offers about the same sensitivity for gaming (you're inhuman if you can tell the difference...or you're suffering from the placebo effect).
