What about buying a 250GB ATA100/133 drive and buying an external enclosure for it? It will probably cost you about $300 for the drive (+ taxes and shipping if applicable) and around $50 for the enclosure (they can be found for good prices on eBay).

Its for work, besides we need USB 2.0 and Firewire for imaging machines and backups

I don't understand. If it's for work, you can't buy a 250 GB ATA drive and an external enclosure? You can buy both from businesses (whether local or online) and get invoices if you need those. And it will still cost less than buying it from Staples for $500 (although if you start stacking coupons, it might be close). You can buy external cases that do both USB 2.0 and Firewire.

I can't imagine how much easier it is then buying an external enclosure with a regular HD.

All you do is plug the thing into a USB port and it'll recognize it as a HD and show up as such in any modern operating system. I can't imagine how the 500 maxtor could make that any easier.

One button backup, press the button on the hd, and it backs up and changed files for you.

There's probably alot of software on the net (retail or maybe even freeware) that'll do the same thing for ya. Just an idea as I dont think its worth paying a 200 + tax premium for a maxtor.

Why don't you buy mine, brand new Onetouch with sealed
software and then replace your HD ( and resale the 120GB )
or I can just sell you the case and all the acessories, included sealed back-up software.
LMK what do you think and how much you want.
New external Onetouch 120GB for only $160 :
