Ok. I know this is a shot in the dark but...
I bought a LaserDisc on Ebay but have nothing to play it on. My geeky friends who had such a beast have, like the rest of us, moved on to DVD. (I know the people who made this recording and it's not likely to ever wind up on DVD anytime soon so If I want it, I'm sort of stuck with this format) If you have a working player you want to get rid of real cheap, give me a shout. Othereise, it's the local Cash converters. I saw a bunch there a while ago they were rather desparate to get rid of. --Pete

lol, they laster about as long as william hung.
IMO laser discs and the players are something that you'll see on the antiques roadshow in 100 years, as they were only produced for a few years and were the one of the first introductions to disc'd movies |

(I'm glad I wasn't looking for any Edison diamond discs. I'd have people wondering if I wanted jewellery. )Back in their days, those things were cool and looked so futureistic. Unless you had the bucks to spend on an ED Beta deck, that was the closest you would get to full 525 line resolution. Anyway, I got several responses from people who had something buried away somewhere, who had no idea what make or model it was, and basically wanted to know what I wanted to pay. The biggest problem is that these things originally cost $1000 but now have no real value. I don't want to go insult someone and offer $20 bucks but what can you do? Then again, I might wind up being willing to up to $50 for a decent player if I can't find anything in the next little while. Thanks, --Pete

Just as a closing note, last weekend, I picked up a Kenwood LVD-K7100 in excellent shape at the Cash Converters in Mississauga for $20. (and that was actually the sticker price on the unit -- I didn't even bother haggling)
It does the job for me. Thanks for all the responses, --Pete
