LF: good deal on vaccum

I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to vaccums, but I'm hoping to find something that will work will on hardwood floors, maybe a carpet in the future. Preferably bagless, since I don't want to buy new bags all the time. Also, CT.ca shows "upright" and "stick" types, what's the difference?
