Future Shop and Best Buy will have them for $399 cdn, but at that price you'd be better off buying it directly from the apple.com/ca website and using the educational discount to get it for $389 cdn. All you need to do is enter your post-secondary school and student number, or if you aren't in school, just ask somebody who is for their school and student #.
Edit: Oh, and the apple site has free shipping on orders over $75, so you wouldn't need to worry about shipping bumping the price up at all. When I got mine, after taxes and all, the final total was $445.41. |

$389 with the levy from the Apple site (and waiting a week for it to arrive in the mail) is still better than $399 with the levy from Future Shop (after lining up outside the store in cold weather on Boxing Day morning), in my opinion.
Regardless, you have to check this deal out. 20GB iPod - regular $429. Use Educational Discount, brings it down to $389. Add an Apple 8x DVD-R media kit (5 pack) for $15, which pushes the total up above $399, to $404. This allows you to use the Educational Promotion coupon, which gets you $40 off. The total is now $364, for a 20GB iPod and an 8-pack of blank DVD-Rs. You could also substitute the 8pk of DVD-Rs for a 10pk of Verbatim CD-Rs (if you don't have a DVD burner) for a dollar cheaper. If I hadn't bought my iPod 4 months ago I'd totally take advantage of this.

For example, if London Drugs and Future Shop both have the 20GB iPod for $429, Future Shop will advertise the price at $429, while London Drugs will advertise it as $404, and have a tiny sidenote that says a $25 levy will be added. To the average person just glancing through flyers or looking at pricetags, this will look like London Drugs has it cheaper when really they are both the exact same price. LD are the only store that really does this, and it's kind of a tricky way of attracting in customers with low advertised prices but nailing them with the rest of the price when it comes checkout time. For this reason I would recommend *not* buying an iPod from LD on principle alone. *** - I'm wondering how this will pan out though with the news of the levy being illegal as of Dec 16 2004. Last time I checked the levies were still in place despite their being illegal. Has FS and BB stopped charging the levies yet? PS. Never buy blank media (cd-r, dvd-r, etc.) from London Drugs. They are the only ones to charge a levy per disc while Future Shop, NCIX, and everywhere else, do not. This ends up making the media at LD about double the price of anywhere else. |

there are some ipod accessories at belkin.com that are 50% off if you use coupon code 12345.
the wireless bluetooth gps is a good deal too at 50% for approx C$300.

OT: I wonder what will happen with P2P users in Canada, since it was deemed legal to download since users paid a "levy". DMCA laws don't apply here in good ol' Canada but I'm sure that won't stop the lawyers from trying to sue the little guy...
