LF: Best Laptop deal

Hi Everyone.
I am looking at buying a laptop within the next 2 months.
I would be interested to see if you have heard of a good deal for a notebook with these (or similar) specifications.

Intel® Pentium® M Processor 750 (1.86GHz) w/ATI RADEON X600 128MB
1.0GB 533MHz, DDRII SDRAM, 1 DIMM - Single Channel (or 2 DIMM)
60GB Performance Hard Drive, 9.5MM, 7200RPM
8X DVD+/-RW Drive
Rest is flexible

Dell prices its Latitude system along these lines around $2900 and I am hoping for a better deal.

Any ideas?
Also any suggestions about where to look for this stuff would be welcome.
