Default Laptop CPU: C2D vs AMD?

Which would be the best value CPU for laptops I should be looking for? I'm not too familiar with specific computer hardware details, but I've always thought the C2D is the best choice/value.

For instance, how are the AMD64 X2 Dual Core chips in the Inspiron 1501s compared to the C2D's in the Vostro's?

Thanks

Core 2 Duo hands down. AMD CPU's for laptops have never been too great IMO.
