Located in GVR Just bought a 2009 Nissan Rogue AWD S

Hi
Just bought a 2009 Nissan Rogue AWD S for $500 above invoice price, total after cash backs and freights and levies BUT before gst and pst tax is $23,489.00 and with the taxes its $26,307.33.
I read that some people can get it for invoice price in the US but not sure if in canada/BC that what I got is a good deal ? I financed it through my bank so that I can get the $4000 cash purchase rebate.
I had to ask them to remove extras like the vin etching (admin fee), nitrogen on tires (additional $65 on the air/ac tax). I also declined the preferred gas card incentive in lieu of getting a better discount for the car.

Here are the details...

MSRP $27,198
Invoice $25,224

bargained $$ 25,725 (invoice + 500)
plus:
freight 1,500
metal paint 135
AC excise tax 100
battery levy 5
tire levy 25
------------------------
Total $27,489

less cash back 4,000
-----------
Total before tx $23,489.00
gst (5%) 1,174.45
pst (7%) 1,643.88
---------------
OTR $26,307.33

I think its a great deal no ?
PM me if you want the dealership and the sales contact I negotiated with.
It might be easier to get a deal ie same deal as mine (also I get a referral gift)

For buying a Nissan in B.C., I would say that is really good, even allowing for it being near the end of the model year.

Historically, in that price level of Nissan vehicle, I have always thought that somewhere around $1,500 off MRSP is fair to both parties.

Last time I tried to buy one - 5 years ago - the Vancouver area dealers seemed to be not at all interested in dealing.
(So I changed brand loyalty and bought something else entirely.)
At that time, I did hear that a Coquitlam dealer was the only one worth talking to - maybe yours.

The GTA forum members will no doubt not be so impressed, but what the heck! It's a different game back East.

Amazed that you could get the bogus "Admin. fee" removed so easily and still get a good discount.

Hope they filled your gas tank after you extracted their gold fillings - I think Nissan Canada requires them to do that.

The PetroCanada gas card deal is only worth about $600 at a rough guess, and might be inconvenient to benefit from sometimes.

I assume you didn't finance. I don't see the cash back posted on their site though. If you are financing then it's a real killer deal.

Actually the manager stared at me for a moment when I said I do not want the vin etching (admin fee), this is after I was handed off to the manager for the closing price and extra stuff like paint/fabric protection, undercoating etc.

Before that while waiting for the sales person to comeback talking with the manager for my offer I calculated how much the total price before tax should be and so when the manager gave me the total and it did not match the figure in my paper, I told her that I want to see the calculation and I noticed the admin fee and the air/ac tax of 165. I told her that from the other sheet I did not agree to any of these things (I told the sales person that I dont want vin etching) and the nitrogen on tires was never brought up.

I financed through my bank. I calculated that $4000 cash back is way better than the $1500 interest I will pay for 3-4 years.
actually the $4000 cash back is on their website nissan.ca its on the front page where there is an image of a gas pump and "see current offers" on the bottom.
it says up to $4000 cash back on a 2009 Nissan Rogue for July 2009 promotion
I looked up the exact cash back deal when I bought a Car Cost Canada report
FWD S - $750
AWD S - $4000
FWD SL- $3000
AWD SL - $4000

btw in BC there is an SST reduction of $1000 for the FWD S/SL 2009 Rogue

WOW thats a great deal. I've gone to 5 Toyota dealerships in the lower mainland and I cant make them budge, I am seriously considering getting a Nissan now. btw how hard did you try to get the invoice price or did you offer them the $500 over invoice first ? Every Toyota dealership I went to always tells me that the RAV4 are selling so well they dont need to give discount on msrp... meanwhile I see most of their sales people just standing around.
Do you think they will give me the same exact deal as yours with no haggling ?

Thats too bad about Toyota. Actually I was going to test drive the RAV4 after I was done with Nissan, good thing I didn't have to get stressed out with dealing with Toyota.
When I first got there I asked for a test drive, after the test drive I decided I really like the car so I said I have done my research, I have ccc report for the rogue and I would be willing to buy it today for the price of xxxxxx (the ccc report wholesale price). then sales go into explanation how they wont make money if its wholesale price, this is where I used the information I got from this forum regarding the dealer holdback incentive. sales then said the dealer will make money but sales wont get any commission. This is the part where I ask what are the other fees that are included, I made sure there are no admin, no documentation no extra stuff. I was thrown back for a second when there is a $135 cost for paint but oh well I really like red. So I told sales the max I can go up to is $500 above invoice and then we started with filling out the form to send to the manager, my first offer was wholesale price, it came back but sales told the manager about my $500 above invoice offer and manager countered $615 above invoice. This is where sales pressured me to accept the extra $115 and this is where I countered to remove the gas discount option and then when I got the $500 above invoice deal.
Meanwhile I am thinking to myself, should I have gone to another dealer first if they can offer invoice price ? I read in US forums that there they normally can get invoice price and macnut pointed out that in GTA they can do better deals.

Congrats on the deal...Looks like a solid deal.

Are the levies the same everywhere? Does anyone know what they are, if not the same everywhere?
