I'm looking for this movie

I vaguely remember this movie but I believe it consisted of:

Some sort of race for a prize

Groups gathered clues from places, one from playing in an arcade, one from listening to the airport radio, one from some flyer

I think a group used a hose at the end of the movie to stop the other groups from winning

It could have been an 80s movie. I saw it one night past midnight.
Or am I making this up

Could it be "Midnight madness"?
Been a decade or two since I saw it so I can't remember specifics.
It featured a very young Michael J Fox.
