Nice phone. CAn be found for $179.00 US here:

Too bad the mobile data rate plans in Canada are a huge ripoff. Otherwise, this would be a hot deal!

Operating Frequency: GSM 900 / 1800MHz

Too bad these will never work in North America.

I read it somewhere that you can get it in a triband version, but I haven't seen the data to confirm it. They would be stupid NOT to do that. North America would be a huge market for that kind of phone.

Doubt it'll happen any time soon. If this thing hits the NA market, Apple's lawyers would tear this company a new one (if not 2)

Only if it hit the market through legit channels. All they have to do is make it triband, and let the little guys bring it into places like Pacific Mall. I'd certainly be interested in one if it weren't for the rates that Rogers would charge.

Apple is working with Rogers to try and get them to lower the data plan rates. Its best for everyone that clones not enter Canada until Rogers lower their prices.

That would be great news, and I think it would certainly give Rogers a leg up on the competition. (What, did I just use the word "competition" when talking about the Canadian cell phone market?).

I think you meant 850/1900.

So will the clones such as the Cect P168(GSM tri-band 900/1800/1900) work in Canada?
