Very tempted to get this phone now as my current cell is semi-broken and I lost my mp3 player.
Is it good enough to replace a normal mp3 player? |

Dont worry its good. Plus if your using it as a mp3 player alone you can always use the flight mode to save battery life. Sound is good and it can compare to other mp3 players.

The headphones don't give a lot of bass but if you're just using it to listen to on the bus ride to work/school than it'll be good enough. You can always turn off your phone and turn it on as an mp3 player only to help save some batteries.

I find the bass plentiful, you just need to turn it on in the EQ. Actually, I had to turn off the MegaBass setting, because there was too much bass. Also, make sure you swap on an earbud size that fits snuggly.

no problems here with sound or battery life?
aside from only up to 4GB space its good for MP3 listening. I no longer have that model phone but I did like it. I now have the K790A. I don't think I would go with a cell phone without an mp3 player of some kind. I like listening to music and I don't like missing calls, with a separate mp3 player I found I missed calls all the time!

I've had my w810 for a little over a year now (unlocked from some place in Asia) and I think it's a failry good mp3 player, nice phone in general. I don't use the stock ear buds, I actually use Sony MDR-EX71 as I find them more combfortable. I also don't have issues with the battery draining while listening to mp3s or even playing games. I think the camera drains the better faster but I've never had the battery die on me.

The mp3 function does not drain the battery that much at all. The w810 has one of the best batteries out there on any cellphone period. I do not like the stock earbuds and use my own sennheiser ones. Its a good all in one device assuming you have a big mem stick.

If you are in music mode (no phone) then you won't drain battery as much, and the life is great. The bass and the earbuds (in-ear) are awesome, the quality is so good that it beats many mp3 players.

Sorry to say, this is a walkman phone and as such, is pretty much the best mp3 player in a cellphone you can get. The only thing I can see missing is AD2P for bluetooth stereo. You don't know what you're missing with bluetooth stereo until you've tried it. People do give you strange looks when they see your headphones aren't connected to anything

+1...the only time that the mp3 player drains the battery quicker than normal is when you play it out the external speakers which makes logical sense. Using the earbuds takes very little out of the battery.

Thanks for the recommendations. I bit the bullet and got the white w810i for $99 (no rebate) and no activation fee, but with a 3 year contract.
Not really happy about extending my contract, but my current phone is broken and I wasn't up to the HUP level for another 4-6 months. At least rogers is pretty good with changing plans even if you are in a contract. |
