Default (HOT or WARM)NCIX: Canon T1i + 18-55mm IS lens $855.99

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=38922&vpn=3818B005&manufacture=Canon &promoid=1066

Canon Eos Rebel T1I Digital SLR Camera 15.1MP 3.0IN LCD Digic 4 W/ 18-55MM Lens Kit -- $855.99

Now, the deal is that either you can get it from NCIX and pay for 6.99 shipping (or free shipping + $10 GC you have in browser cache)

($855.99 + $6.99) x 5% GST = $906.13

or

($855.99 + $10) x 5% GST = $909.29 and a $10 GC towards next purchase at NCIX ~net = $899.29

or

PM at FS/BB for $999.99
{$855.99 - [($999.99 - $855.99) x 10% = $14.40]} x 13% tax = $951 but the ability to return if you dont like it or change your mind.

or

deduct another $10 if you get it from BB and use your SPC card's gift card.

Head ups though: Item is not in stock with NCIX so YMMV with PMing BB.

Picked one up yesterday at Futureshop without pricematching.

Got the T1i with the 18-55mm IS kit lens, the 55-250mm IS telephoto lens, and the Canon accessory kit (Bag, battery, UV filter) for ~$1270 + service plan + tax.

If the lens retails for ~$350 and the accessory kit for $100, then I think I got a better deal. I know the accessories is where all the markup is though, so its surprising that NCIX can sell the camera for that price. Either way - excellent camera!

how much of a performance difference is this camera to the Nikon D90? Or is the D90 (mainly due to cost) in a distinctly different class?

D90 has a wider range of features, has better layouts (IMHO) and comes with a longer kit lense. The grips are also quite different (Nikon's is more comfortable for larger hands). D90 is more expensive of course.

I own the T1i but got to try a friends D90 for a while while I was searching.

Is NCIX even an authorized retailer? That's something buyers should care about.

What does that mean in terms of warranty?
