HL2 Coming to Xbox

Let's see Doom 3? Hmm, that's pretty good. Heck, let's try HL2! I was expecting this for the next gen, but it's nice to see some good FPS on Xbox, especially for those that can't afford good video cards. Farcry anyone?

Future Magazine's Official Xbox Magazine revealed the news we've all been waiting to hear. Mostly. Creative talent Valve is in development with IGN's 2004 game of the year, Half-Life 2, originally out for PC last fall, for the current generation Xbox. It's slated for release in summer 2005.

IGN phoned Vivendi Universal, which referred us to Valve, which did not return our phone calls. IGN wonders why a game of such import and visual excellence would appear on the current generation of systems, when Xbox 360 is right around the corner (fall 2005).

OXM has yet to update their Website with the news, though the magazine has only reached subscribers and has yet to reach newsstands proper.

Still, the news is frightfully good. Half-Life 2 is officially coming to Xbox, and console gamers without the means to afford a PC high-end enough to play the PC game will now have the chance.

We'll have more on Half-life 2 soon.

oddly enough, there is not going to be any multiplayer for this game. either via XBOX Live or via Offline.

What an odd decision.

Some things to expect:

Better Lighting
Lower Resolution Textures

i don't think they will be able to match hl2 for the computer, at least graphically, unless its released on the next gen console

HL2 co-op would be nice.

pc is the god of fps.... I don't know how anyone can play HL2 with a controller after trying it on a kb/mouse combo.

how can this be possible? the xbox is a geforce3 class hw, its barely dx8.1 capable, forget about dx9.

This seems weird, its probably gonna be on the sucky rendering path...

it would be great for the xbox people to play it multiplayer deathmatch..

agaist the pc.. hahaha keyboard. mouse combo vs joystick... lol I wonder who gonna win the quick shooting up.. lol.

too bad this thread is about hl2....

If you read the original post, he said... "farcry anyone?" which implied he was wondering if Farcry was coming for Xbox, so I posted that it was....
