Default Hit A New High At The Gym

Today I just hit a new high at the gym, some of you folks might have already been able to do this but its a new high for me, I was at the gym and did decline situps wth 100lb weight. It was wild the biggest rush i've felt in ages, any of you guys try decline setups with weights?

Abs are one of my trouble spots, I can do about 25-35 pounds only on the decline situps

Good job! I wouldn't even attempt doing that with no weights!

doing all the situps in the world wont give you a six pack if you still have flab hanging around.

That's very true, but that's why you have to workout every part of your body and eat right, to get rid of the flab. My ab goal though is to be able to do decline with 160lb.

How do you even hold that much weight while doing decline? What's that like almost 4 plates? How much do you weigh?

Actually I don't use plates, I use the dumbell. I'm not that big of a guy, 5'10" and 165lbs. My bulking phase begins on the second week on January.

Abs for me is just like dead weight on my bike. As long as I'm toned, I really don't want any more muscles...unless they're in my legs.

Almost the same size as me.
I can't even carry that 100 lb dumb bell off the rack.

I usually hold the weight behind the top of my head for situps. That way you get a lot more torque applied to the abs with the same weight, and you're free to do a better curling motion. A plate on the chest is probably equivalent to 20 or 25 behind the head.

Good job, Robs2001. I've been slacking off when it comes to my abs, but I've been having fun with with weighted dips. I'm probably a month away from adding half my weight to dips (60lbs now, and I weigh 145). Good luck in reaching your goals!

You can have "nice abs" but if your body fat is too high you won't be able to see them.

Just like with any other muscle group, doing situps with high weights and low reps will have a different result than low/no weight and high reps. If you want to workout abs, also consider oblique situps too for the sides. Having big abs that stick out look funny if your obliques aren't proportional in size.
