Default Help with formatting an SD card...

So, I got in on the great price for the 2.0GB Ultra II card from www.costco.ca. Ordered it from the website on Friday, received it today, pretty darn fast!

I'm sad though: my Palm Zire 31 will not recognize the card, as it has a 1.0GB maximum capacity (didn't know this until today, doh!). I have a card reader, so I'm searching for a program that will let me format the SD card as a 1.0GB FAT (and then when I upgrade handheld devices, I'll get to use the whole 2GB).

The built-in Windows formatter won't let me specify the card size. Also, Partition Magic or the HP USB card formatter won't let me choose the size. Does anyone know of an appropriate program to do this job?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I am not sure that formating it to 1G will solve your problems... pretty much buying a new PDA is your only solution to using the card in a PDA!

I'm not sure either, but I figure it will be a cheaper alternative for right now.

I bought the same card and have a 31 as well. I was able to format the card in windows xp, and put a picture on it but the Zire 31 will not recognize it...

You will likely have to return it like i did

Hey folks, I've got a similar but different problem with the Ultra II 2 GB card...

I've got a Palm Treo 650, it recognizes the 2 GB card. However, when I format it on XP, it only formats to 1 GB. I've found out that it could be my memory card reader.

Have you folks tried formatting and does it format to 2 GB? If so, what brand card reader do you have?

Help!

Thanks!
