The mods over at HEAT take a while to respond... I requested a username change on my heat account and it took a couple of weeks for them to get to it.

I agree, while its nice that members should leave a heat, if they don't then its up to them. Just go on with your life. its more important.

the same way that a buyer should never leave feed first

The way I see it, in a normal situation, the seller should leave a feed back first because the first part of the transaction is complete (e.g. the seller got paid for the item). The buyer will then leave a feed back after he/she is satisfy with the item.

Now this changes when a seller ships first, in that case the buyer should provide feed back since the first part of the transaction is completed. After the seller receive the payment a feedback should be left for the buyer.

However, most people are selfish and scared/afraid that people will tarnish their precious feedback so they want to make sure they have the last leverage in case something goes wrong.

It happens, you just need to learn to get over it. And as already mensioned, it's optional, and the way I see it, no feedback is better then neutral or negative feedback. It could be possible that the other person wasn't satisfied about something, and instead of ruining your heat, decided not to post any feedback at all.

Out of hundreds of transactions that I've done locally and out of town throughout the years, only a very small fraction of those people decided to leave return feedback. What I do now is request them to leave me feedback before giving return feedback.

I always leave feedback first if I am the seller. After all, I was paid and if the transaction went smoothly, why delay the feedback?

If the buyer does not reciprociate, then that is his or her choice. Maybe they were not satisified 100%, but I am not at fault. I always deliver my end of the deal.

I rather have no feedback, than negative feedback over something that I was not at fault.

Buyer should only provide feedback after item has been received and inspected to their satisfaction. In all cases.

Bottom line. Leave feedback once you are satisified. If the other party does not return in kind. No big deal, move on. There are plenty of other people to deal with.

I have always left feedback when I am satisified and if they don't leave me any, well, no big deal. I have enough and that should speak for itself.

Most important. DON'T BE AFRAID TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE BEEN WRONGED.
