I really don't know what to make of this email from Rogers.

The full notice is appended to this e-mail below. Under section 4(d) of the Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet End User Agreement (EUA) and Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), you are prohibited from using the Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet service to engage in illegal activities, including activities that infringe copyright. A friend of a friend of mine got a similar email, except it stated their IP, what they were downloading and when.
When they called into rogers they said (paraphrased) "ya we by law have to notify you. I myself download torrents but if it happens a 2nd or maybe a 3rd time we are required to shut off your internet" |

The problem is the 'uploading' part of your 'activities'
Technically speaking, while you were BT downloading 'stuff', you were also 'distributing' (uploading/sharing) 'stuff' ... this violates the ISP agreement between Rogers and you. Yup, I believe you should see the details (file(s), time, IP ... etc) in the same email ... However, if you don't BT, there's a bigger problem ... someone may be 'sharing' your internet connection wirelessly ... Last edited by willy; Oct 22nd, 2007 at 11:09 AM.. |
