Question Got a call saying i won a trip.

Ok so i've been getting a call from a number i dont recognize, i didnt answer it yesterday as i have been getting annoying phone calls from someone so i thought it would be them again showing there number this time. Anyhoo, i get my bf to answer it and tell him to ask who it is before giving me the phone. He tells me its a thing i signed up for at the Pyschic fair i went to. Im like ohh ok i know who it is and take the phone. The guy on the phone is really excited and gets me excited too as i think ive won something. Lol honestly all i could remember the contest had a TV in it, among other things but i could only rememeber the TV as my friends and i joked around winning that. The main prize was a trip for 2 to the Bahamas and i won it. I was really excited as i've never won anything before! So he says he wants to confirm the things i put down on my ballot to see if its really me. He confirms my name, address, and then age. All correct except for my age. He said i was 48 years old. (Im 18) The ballot asked for mm/dd/year so i dont know how he got that age, as i can see him mixing it up if it asked for age:___. you know? So i corrected him and he's like oh your only 18? and i said yea, then he told me that i cant claim my trip as it was for 21 and over. Thanked me for my time and hung up. I was like wth just happened here. The ballot said 18 and over, thus i signed up for it or i wouldnt have otherwise. I dont remember the company he told me (Vacation Destinations or IPO something) as i tried to Google it, to see if it was legit or a scam. But im really curious if it was real, how come i couldnt win the prize as it said 18+ on the ballot and call and be told otherwise.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Or has anyone signed up at an event to win something, and have them call saying they win and it turned out to be a scam?
I tried to call back the numbers that called me but they all lead to an answering machine that just states the phone number so i couldnt get the company name. Its from a 647 number so it made it odd, as i thought only 647 was given to cell phones. suspicious yet curious at the same time

Sounds like those fake winnings where they ask you to pay "x amount" of dollars to secure your winnings.

Congrads, by filling out the ballot you have just given your number to telemarketers list . Never ever fill out those contest ballets, especially at trade shows, they all have disclaimer on them that says you agree to "promotional phone call" .

I got 2 of those calls from 2 different timeshares companies in last month. Do a search on google for their phone # or company name to confirm they are scammers.

Scam. If you win something legit it'll be from something like the Princess Margaret Hospital, in which you paid to enter...Or something like the Pepsi Xbox360 contest.

Friend of mine got a similar call 3 years ago and was convinced, and didnt listen to me telling him it was a scam. They told him to go to some address to pick up his prize at a specific time. He ended up going and it turns out his free cruise was a prize IF he signed up to a special $35,000 offer of unlimited airplane travel to anywhere in the World for the next 12 months.

When he got back and told me, i was laughing at him and said "I TOLD YA SO!!!!!"

i think 1 of them is for real... I made a thread about it.
People were telling me how they make you go to a conference where they pressure you into some sort of financial investment aka "time share". It might not be time share but it may be time share related.

Some people said it is possible to get free stuff if you can live thru the 2 day presentation without buying in.
