Hi there,
I live in a small condo that I don't really like much anymore and I will be leaving Canada for a year or 10 months. I considered renting the place but since I don't like it much and prices may go down while I am away, I wonder if I shouldn't selling it. I don't want to have to worry about the place while I am away and it is a nice new condo I would be heartbroken if someone messed it up (and laws are with the tenants in Ontario if I land on a bad tenant). 2. I am a big believer of houses as investment and with everything changing now and some people predicting currency devaluations and maybe another recession, where will I invest whatever I saved after I sell the condo? I don't want to buy another place now that I want to be away and I don't understand anything to the stock market well think even those who did lost big time I dont like money in the bank. And I don't want to have gold under my mattress yes everyone says invest in gold but where do you put your gold? The banks? The same guys who may close doors if currencies crash? Some of my friends think I am gloom and doom but I am here trying to be realistic...and reading on the Net how some Americans are preparing for the crisis, I don't think they will be the only ones to have a crisis. Canada's economy is too dependent of the US.3. Now I have one crazy idea. What do you think of buying land (a small one just to hold a bit of money) and where would you buy that? I don't feel like being a landlord even for a tiny little one bedroom so keeping the condo and renting it isn't such a good idea for me but maybe owning a land is easier. I just wonder if there are small lands for small investors (land is usually for wealthy people). Also, it might be harder to sell nothing like a good condo you can flip in urban areas. Wow, that's a lot for a first message
