Default Futurama Movie: Bender's Big Score (November 27, 2007)

Cheapest I've found is @

Futureshop: $23.99

Next is Bestbuy: $24.99

Amazon.ca: $ 26.59

edit: Blah, can't pre-order yet. I hope Futureshop will honor this price when pre-ordering is available!

I'm a big Futurama fan, but this is a huge scam.

I can buy an entire season for that price (or less), and I'm not going to line up to be sheared.

If you don't buy the dvd's, there won't be any chance of the show coming back =(

If you download movies, games, etc. you should support the properties you enjoy the most to keep them afloat.

Here's the thing: I WANT to buy this, I have been wanting for this show to come back for the longest time. But I know very well that they're gonna come out with a boxset with all the new episodes after they're out, and it will cost 50% less than buying them separately. Being a student... this is something I have to consider.

the new Futurama shows coming out in the next 2 years are movies though, not actual series episodes. So I definitely encourage you guys to buy the movies so Futurama can come back on the air!!!!

It would be an AWESOME line up to have the Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy then American Dad on a Sunday night.

They're cutting the movies up into half hour episodes and airing those on Comedy Central. No new episodes, just the movies.

Let's clear this up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futuram...and_DVD_movies

Quote:
After the successful revival of the Family Guy series, Futurama co-creator Matt Groening approached 20th Century Fox Television to produce a direct-to-DVD Futurama movie.[citation needed] On April 26, 2006, Groening noted in an interview that co-creator David X. Cohen and numerous writers from the original series would be returning to work on the movies.[52] On June 22, 2006, Comedy Central announced that at least 13 new episodes were to be produced. Comedy Central also confirmed that Billy West, Katey Sagal, and John DiMaggio would return for the new episodes, with a 2008 debut planned.[2]

The first movie, Futurama: Bender's Big Score, is written by Ken Keeler and Cohen, and will include return appearances by the Nibblonians, Seymour, Barbados Slim, Morbo, Robot Santa, the "God" space entity, Al Gore, and Zapp Brannigan.[53] In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Al Gore confirmed that he would appear as his disembodied head. Cohen has said that Gore would be involved in a storyline which will "show what really determined the outcome of the 2000 Presidential election".[54]

In February 2007, Groening clarified speculation as to whether Futurama had been revived in episodic or feature-film form, saying "[The crew is] writing them as movies and then we're going to chop them up, reconfigure them, write new material and try to make them work as separate episodes."[55] According to Rich Moore the titles of the other three movies are Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs, Futurama: Bender's Game, and Futurama: The Wild Green Yonder.[56]

A 5-minute trailer was shown at the 2007 Comic-Con International convention in San Diego on July 28, 2007, to an audience of more than 4,000.[57] All original voice actors still take part in the series, and it will be in widescreen format when released on DVD. After the trailer was shown, the panel, including Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, and Matt Groening, answered questions from the audience. It was revealed that they are working on 4 DVDs which will later be split into 16 episodes that will air on Comedy Central.[58]

Futurama: Bender's Big Score will be released on DVD November 27th, 2007. It has been animated in widescreen and will be released on both normal and high-definition DVD.[58]

It's disappointing to see such a high MSRP and a lack of Bender action figure or whatever to encourage buying the disc instead of d/l'ing it. If this is how they're handling things I strongly, and sadly, suspect that no more Futurama will appear after these four if it depends on disc sales.

Imho they would have made a lot more $ if they sold them for $10 (the price of a movie ticket) in a bare cardboard case and a collector's edition in a plastic case with action figure for $20+.

The creators have stated that Futurama is not coming back on the air, and that any future it has will be in DVD movies. These movies will appear on TV in the future, but NO NEW TV series is planned.

So please, stop spreading disinformation to all the hapless nerds.

Has any direct-to-video release ever cost $10 new?
